🥳 Damage control whilst enjoying Christmas to it’s fullest

Here’s Your Weekly Health Fix . . .  A coaching idea and tip from me, and a health related headline you might have missed . . . 

Avoiding self sabotage over the festive season 🎄

For most people, enjoying the Christmas build up and the day itself and looking after their health and fitness are conceptually at odds with one another. 

But let’s be honest, if diabetes and liver damage could sponsor a month, they would definitely choose December! 😆

If this incompatibility strikes a chord with you, here are 2 approaches that can work – 


Approach 1 – The Hard Line . . .

Consume the people not the poison – 

At the end of the day, it’s the friends and loved ones that make the party. Enjoy seeing the family, the music, the lights, the gift giving, the games and the jokes. 

If you were a smoker you wouldn’t become one just because it’s Christmas. Take the same approach towards the food and drink. 💪🏼


Approach 2 – Santa’s festive leeway . . .

Rather than drifting with the current, decide where your indulgences are going to be in advance whilst accepting that the weight loss will pause, the blood sugar will take a hit, and your performance may get a little sluggish.

💡 Here’s a simple rule – eat as many mince pies as you like – but only if they are home made.

. . . and follow that message forward with all your festive indulgences. 

Decide that you will have the extra glass of wine, the crispy potatoes, or the daily dessert – for this period, calories and macro nutrients aren’t considered. 

But draw the line at processed food. If it wasn’t made at home, from scratch, then assume that it contains poison (as it almost definitely does). ⛔️

With this approach you can eat, drink and be merry, whilst avoiding the most sabotaging and poisonous products that are synonymous with this time of year.

Anti-Meat propaganda exposed . . . again!

Stanford University’s recent ‘Twins’ study grabbed headlines round the world claiming that a Vegan diet is preventative of cardio-vascular disease. 

The thing is though, that it’s not true! The data in their own study doesn’t even come close to substantiating that claim.

Furthermore, while the headline hit the news world wide, most outlets failed to highlight that the research was commissioned and funded by one of the largest fake meat producers. Given the deceitful summary of the study, it stands to reason that the outcome might have been pre-determined from the outset. 

Nina Teicholz article details the inaccuracies in the data and debunks the celebrated headline.
